Serving both Pasco-Hernando State College as well as the Pasco Schools communities, the new PHSC auditorium is an exciting and contemporary performance site, well-appointed for the PHSC’s lively music programming and other production events. TSG worked closely with Harvard Jolly Architects providing consulting for acoustics, theatre design, and theatre systems.
Features include a contemporary stage, full fly tower, and stage rigging systems to enhance a variety of events. Additionally, a complete orchestra acoustical shell will be integrated to maximize concerts and music, and a motorized orchestra pit will offer music and staging options. State-of-the-art lighting, video, and audio systems, including assisted listening, will complete the project.

The Performing Cultural Arts Center is a 334 seat multi-purpose facility, with superb acoustics, capable of hosting a variety of events such as small theatrical performances, musical concerts and lectures. TSG Assisted with the renovation of the campus theatre by improving the acoustics and replacing the stage rigging system, the sound system and the stage lighting system.

The interior finishes were worn out, the theatre systems were obsolete, the catwalks were unnavigable, and the support spaces were no longer able to keep up with the growing fine arts curriculum. The room was completely reshaped, new catwalks were designed into the exiting maze of roof steel, new and larger support spaces were designed and all the theatre systems were upgraded.

This 11-month renovation project transformed the South Florida Community College Auditorium into the South Florida Community College Theatre for the Performing Arts. The new venue boasts a raised fly loft allowing for the presentation of larger shows, new sound and lighting systems, as well as an increased seating capacity – boosted from 1,000 to 1,400 seats. The venue serves as home to several series: the Artist Series featuring acts ranging from the Orlando Philharmonic to the Smothers Brothers, The Matinee Series focusing on enriching the lives of seniors, the Jazz Series featuring local and national acts, and the most recent addition, the Kaleidoscope Series, featuring storytellers, musicians, scholars and other thought-provoking presentations.

Services: Theatre Rigging
TSG Design Solutions, Inc. worked with Atkins Global to modernize the stage rigging system at the Miami Dade College Lehman Theatre. The installation, by InterAmerica Stage, Inc. took an old wire guided stage rigging system that was deemed unsafe during a safety inspection and replaced it with a new, fully motorized stage rigging system. The proscenium arch was rebuilt to accommodate a new motorized fire safety curtain, and the manual stage rigging was replaced with twenty-eight ETC Vortek Hoists controlled by an ETC Foundation Rigging Controller. The new stage rigging system allows for more creative control and operational safety.

Located on the campus of North Palm Beach Community College, the Ed Eissey Theatre, equipped with an orchestra pit, a full fly loft and counterweighted rigging system, hosts numerous community educational programs and family entertainment via its “Arts in the Gardens” guest artist series. With an enrollment of approximately 49,000 students, the areas of study are plentiful and include a popular Associate in Arts degree. With the recent addition of a new Bioscience Technology Complex, multi-media classrooms, labs, a horticultural nursery and an art gallery, the college is a magnet for its visionary process. In 2001, a state-of-the-art child care center opened its doors to children of families within the community, faculty members and students.

Located on Florida’s Treasure Coast, and comprised of 42 buildings amid 252 acres, the college’s Fine Arts complex stands second to none. The 3,500 s.f. facility holds the 620-seat McAlpin Fine Arts Center, the 100-seat Wynne Black Box Theatre, art gallery, classrooms and rehearsal rooms. Designed to be a flexible, performing arts space, the Wynne Black Box Theatre offers a unique theatre experience including Broadway cabaret, dramas, comedy shows and dance. Offering state-of-the-art lighting, audio/video equipment, the theatre is equipped with a portable seating riser system which can be configured to fit its diverse performance criteria.
