As the most recent addition to the Old School Square, this beautiful outdoor venue fits nicely into this vibrant, downtown Cultural Arts Center. As part of a master expansion plan, the performance venue is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound, and shares the 4-acre site with the Crest Theatre (converted from a former high school auditorium), and the Cornell Museum of Art and American Culture. Known for its historic preservation value, the venues which combine Old Town Square feature state-of-the-art exhibits, concerts, movie nights, educational programs and festivals to members of the community and visitors to Florida’s southeast coast.

With an audience of more than 5,000, the new St. Augustine Amphitheatre is one of the premier outdoor performing arts spaces in north Florida. With elevated seating designed to provide superb sightlines, patrons and visitors have the ultimate opportunity to relate performances to an “experience.” As part of Anastasia State Park and originally built in the mid 1960’s to coincide with St. Augustine’s 400th anniversary, its success has been apparent throughout the decades. One of the most notable, as touted on the venue’s website, is Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Paul Green’s musical reenactment of the first years of St. Augustine’s existence, the Cross and Sword: A Symphonic Drama of the Spanish Settlement of Florida, which was deemed in 1973 by the State Legislature as Florida’s official state play. Today, performers such as Britain’s Moody Blues and the legendary Aretha Franklin continue to fill seats in this beautiful outdoor setting.
